Description:   

Lead Software Architect needed to design and architect a Java based reference Service Oriented Architecture. This is a key position that will lead a growing effort to establish SOA across all our geographically diverse teams. You will be hands-on working across teams to define service requirements and establish best practices and patterns. You must have an entrepreneurial spirit, thrive on challenges and have superior communication skills.

 

Required Experience

 

- Senior level professional with 5+ years of significant software development experience: leading small teams would be a plus.

- Strong software design skills: database modeling skills a plus.

- Must have delivered production level code (Java or C/C++) in a commercial environment.

- Strong understanding of distributed systems.

- Broad experience in development technologies (e.g. Spring, JDBC, Maven).

- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

- BS in Computer Science (MS preferred).

 

Essential Functions:

- Lead the architecture, design and development of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to ensure that services are testable, maintainable, and scalable.

- Provide leadership for the team and be a central point of contact for technical questions and recommendations.

- Develop and code proof of concept services (Java).

- Work with your teammates to establish standards and best practices.

- Mentor and teach more junior developers and ensure team collaboration.

Rate:   commensurate with experience

       

Qualifications:

Experience managing offshore resources required

Functional knowledge in: (a) QA Automation tools (b) UNIX/LINUX and Windows

Experience developing test plans, test cases, analyzing defects and setting-up/troubleshooting test environments

UNIX and workstation experience

C-shell and Perl scripting a definite plus.

Experience with IP Protocols/Networking and/or network security experience highly desirable. Good working knowledge of MS tool suite and Visio.

Require a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electronics/Electrical/Computer Engineering. Masters preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

Manage projects, schedules, resources, and budgets

Supervise and manage QA staff

Direct activities relating to software and hardware system testing, certification and automation

Hold readiness reviews

Provide tier-# support to customer services, as and when needed

Interface with all levels of management, functional areas and customers as they relate to Quality

Attend various status meetings

Serve as NJ/India liaison that includes periodic visits to India R&D center

Control distribution of software released from QA to Product Management

Maintain Quality Assurance portal

Ability to provide direction and guidance to progressively improve quality of NIKSUN products

Visit top 10 customers to gather first hand field quality metrics to identify shortcomings and effectively evolve and improve QA process and methodology
