The Application Servers & Infrastructure team is responsible for developing low latency, high availability, scalable, application servers to implement the back-end of a large-scale distributed financial analytic system. This includes building infrastructure for load balancing, fail over, tunneling, management and provisioning, and state management, as well as supporting a large-scale deployment of services across various groups and product areas.
The ideal candidate will be capable of taking ownership of complex problems and driving themselves and others to define and implement solutions in a time-critical manner. Candidates must
Be able to elicit requirements and be highly motivated problem solver.
Have in depth knowledge and sound procedural and object oriented design and code development practices.
Be able to design for and administer various lifecycle issues including maintenance, monitoring, deployment, failure recovery.
Be able determine the evolution of the product and define functional and technical goals and be able to plan and manage projects to successful completion.
Be well versed in Distributed systems architecture and management, building custom communication protocols, C# and C++/CLI.
Experience building mission critical, self monitoring, distributed systems with tools for state and issue tracking is preferred.

Production support of 30+ application group trading systems
Build/Deploy servers based on standard build process
Setup & support Linux clusters for High Availability
Setup & support Oracle RAC clusters
Write complex Shell and Perl scripts
Benchmark server and storage systems
Testing & validation of various new hardware and software for the enterprise
Support FC/ iSCSI SANs (NetApp & Equallogic) using Veritas and LVM
Support firm-wide Legato backup systems
Administration of SNMP based monitoring system

Qualifications:
· 5 plus years of experience with Linux operating systems
· 4 year degree or equivalent experience
· Must have excellent communication skills and be customer focused
· Strong troubleshooting skills in a high pressure environment working with network, security and development teams
· Strong understanding of IP protocol, multicast and other network concepts
· Strong understanding of DNS/DHCP/TFTP
· Strong understanding of enterprise level Linux security & implementation
· Experience in server performance tuning (kernel, memory, network)
· Experience in low latency/high performance environment in a financial setting or equivalent
· Experience with analyzing server core dumps
· Experience with client/server services like NIS, NFS, X …
· Experience supporting, configuration and troubleshooting applications using middleware messaging such as TIBCO/RV
· Experience troubleshooting Java server applications
· Experience with large storage systems like NetApp, EMC, HP …
· Shell and Perl scripting and/or C or C++
· Understanding of storage principles in high performance environment (RAID, file systems, etc)
· Knowledge of Oracle, Sybase and MySQL performance tuning principles
