Primary responsibility for the Target Architecture of a Global Backbone for the entire firm
• Defining the plan for execution by other teams and own the core network capability roadmap definition.
• Responsible for the Technical Governance for design proposals and major activities by other teams as it relates to the global backbone
• Co-chair the Core Network Architecture Council with representation from Design, Development, Engineering, PMO and Operation teams
• Actively participate in the firm Architecture Council representing the Network Infrastructure
• Build the business case for future Backbone development and investment with clear ROI
Qualifications
Education:
•BS in Engineering, Math or Computer Science
•MS in a relevant field is a plus
Required Skills:
• Previous experience with developing target architecture and defining the building blocks of that target architecture
• Excellent knowledge and previous hands-on experience with Carriers technologies such as SONET/SDH, DWDM, MEF, MPLS and PBB-TE
• Strong knowledge of the global cable system landscape
• Strong knowledge of IETF and IEEE standards and drafts as pertained to Carrier Services
• Strong understanding of MPLS technologies such as L3 VPN, L2 VPN, and VPLS
• Minimum of 12 years experience ideally working in a carrier network or a large enterprise network of which at least 4 years in a design or architecture role
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to clearly articulate complex issues
• Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills and ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
• Motivated self starter
• Excellent attention to detail
Desired Skills:
Any quantifiable project management skills, certifications, or experience is a plus
Any team lead or management experience is a plus
Active affiliation with relevant standard body such as the MEF, IETF or IEEE
Familiarity with ITIL framework
Previous experience with Service Design and lifecycle management definition of complex environments
Experience with Product development, pricing, cost modeling
Any Certifications Required:
Industry certifications such as MEF, CECP, CCIE-SP or JNCIE-SP, ITIL v3 Preferred
