EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The role does require a minimum seven years in a mission-critical, highly uptime-sensitive organization in an IT operational role. SKILLS: The person should be able to: 1. Administer servers in various environments and resolve difficult distributed server related issues 2. Define alterations and capacity upgrades to the current server environments 3. Help establish and implement enterprise class standards for Microsoft-based infrastructure systems 4. Provide crisis management during customer outages and impacting events 5. Participate in DR testing as needed 5. Provide department management with on-site management assistance 6. Work irregular hours when needed 7. Continue to improve existing/develop new process and procedures to continuously improve overall Operations and drive standardization as the business develops and evolves. Essential Skills: 1. Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration and engineering. 2. Administration and engineering skills for all Windows services including a) Active Directory b) WINS / DNS / DHCP c) DFS and DFS-R d) File and Print e) Clustering 3. Scripting, preferably VBScript or PowerShell 4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and SQL Server Desirable Skills: 1. VMware vSphere / ESXi 2. Citrix XenApp / Microsoft Terminal Services 3. Microsoft Systems center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 4. Microsoft Systems center Operations Manager (SCOM) 5. Backup 6. Blades (preferably Cisco UCS) 7. SAN technologies (preferably EMC Symmetrix) Competencies/Traits desired: 1. Strong written and verbal communication, as well as organization and documentation skills. 2. Strong customer service skills to deliver quality results in a demanding environment. 3. Able to work well under pressure and within short time constraints. 4. Must interact extensively with all levels of management, business and IT, and is required to act in a professional and confident manner. 5. Self-motivator possessing a high sense of urgency and a high level of integrity. 6. A creative and analytical style. 7. Ability to support an extensive client base in varied geographical locations. This role entails providing technical and thought leadership to all aspects of our Windows operations, including development of standards and practices, system architecture and design, functional design and implementation and development of junior staff. The role involves driving continual improvement in processes, people, and technology and leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of all Windows infrastructure for a 24x7 production environment.
