Two Accountant Roles

The client is located in midtown. These roles are in their international department, so they strongly prefer candidates working in global companies that are working with international units. Both roles have similar responsibilities concentrating on gathering the financial information from international subsidiaries and reporting information to the parent company.  

Responsibilities:  
International intercompany analysis 
Intercompany
 variances 
Working on reporting information to parent company
Interaction with upper management
Account analysis and some journal entries. 
 
 They are searching for candidates with strong communication skills and an ability to work overtime when necessary. 

Candidates must have strong Excel skills, they will train on their accounting systems and their General Ledger system.

 

There are two roles with these requirements for this group:

1.  The Senior Accountant role will focus on working with the European groups and will also require analytic responsibilities. Salary 42-47k

2.  The Staff Accountant role will focus on working with Asia and Australia and will also work on invoicing and payments Salary 42-45k.

 

They will meet people this week and make their decision immediately.

Reconciliation Supervisor Los Angeles

 Position: Reconciliation Supervisor $85K Base; strong Bonus

The reconciliation supervisor is responsible to oversee the _____reconciliation team.  The team is responsible for reconciliation of ____internal records for each of the funds to the trustee records.  The reconciliation is designed to verify and monitor all transactions cash and security that are processed in the funds.  The supervisor must ensure that all cash reconciliations are performed on a daily basis and position reconciliations are performed monthly.  The supervisor is also responsible to monitor for proper procedures and maintain the predefined service levels of the team.

 

Experience and Skills Required:

·         Minimum four years of investment operations experience

·         Minimum of one year supervisory experience in a reconciliation department 

·         Fixed-income product knowledge, particularly bank loans, CLO’s, CDO’s variable rates securities

·         Hedge fund or private equity experience is a plus

 

Position Responsibilities:

·         Review all reconciliations to ensure proper identification and action is taken on each reconciliation item with an expectation that all items are closed within three  business days

·         Work directly with reconciliation team to review all outstanding items from previous reconciliations that have not been addressed

·         Ensure adequate documentation on each open item, until resolution has been reached

·         Provide ongoing guidance and training for the reconciliation process, transaction identification and posting

·         Manage daily workflow of team to insure that all reconciliations can be completed on a daily basis

·         Review all backdated transactions

·         Respond to inquiries from business partners related to the portfolios holdings, cash and activity

·         Work with custodians, prime brokers and counterparties (internal and external) to set up new accounts

·         Participate in special projects such as technology advancements

 

General Skills:

Computer Skills:

Engage CTO and CDO subject matter experts across the organization to identify and establish best practices, foster the integration and implementation of these practices as they relate to the systems supported.

Primary Responsibility:

Incident Mgmt – Support and resolve day to day issues and perform root cause analysis for Major Outage tickets relating to their assigned line of business.

Project Management – Build a partnership with their respective CDO, help to define Business Unit tactical and strategic initiatives. Provide budget estimates as they relate to technology infrastructure and required labor, resources and timeframes. Effectively manage expectations of the business and CDO organization. Execution of aforementioned projects and ensuring successful completion of project.

Analysis / Measurement / Inventory Control – Conduct Application Performance Analysis and performance capacity planning. Make recommendations to optimize the infrastructure and provide optimal support to their respective business unit.

Release Management / QA – Create process and procedures in support of software application and vendor releases. Create and periodically review methodology for QA of release in agreement with their respective CDO organization.

Identify and establish best practices, foster the integration and implementation of these practices as they relate to the systems supported. Engage and maintain regular contact and feedback with relevant CDO and business unit lead contacts to ensure all operational requirements are met

Assist CDO and or business units with budgets, control costs and forecasting of future expenses as it relates to technology infrastructure and support.

Ensure local adherence to ITG governance as dedicated by the CTO and CIO

Complete annual performance reviews and recommend compensation adjustment.

Responsible for the overall development and tactical control of the IT staff.

Metrics Reporting – Create and run scripts that report on operational availability of critical applications. Create reports (daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly in reference to Capacity mgmt, Performance mgmt and Trouble calls. Provide ad-hoc reports as directed by the CTO and CDO.

BCP / DR - Quarterly DR application tests. Coordinate the implementation of future requirements between the Business Unit and ITG in the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery space.

Coordination of documentation efforts and define application operational support as per strategic direction of NY ITG.

Participate in branch business unit meetings for the execution of ITG strategy and coordination of activities of other ITG Managers.

Skills Required:

·         Must have at seven – ten years experience supporting a particular technology areas and applications supporting real time trading.

·         Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or Business Management is a plus.

·         Must have thorough technical understanding of:

·         Distributed systems technology (UNIX, LINUX Windows based systems, server and PC based infrastructure)

·         Telecommunications and the underlining protocols supporting the infrastructure

·         Market Data technology, feeds and service providers

·         Database technologies (Sybase, Oracle)

·         Voice technologies

·         Must have a strong understanding of the structure and workings of a particular business along with the associated interdependences of other lines of business.

·         Must possess a good understanding of financial accounting practices.

·         Must be strong in Project Management.

·         Must have excellent problem solving skills.

·         Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.

·         Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.

·         Must have strong managerial skills possessing both the ability to lead and motivate a team of highly skilled individuals.

·         Must be detail oriented.

·         Strong interpersonal skills.

 

Business Need:

 

The Technical Operations Manager is required to support production trading or production operations environment from an infrastructure support perspective along with the CDO development projects and initiatives. Fulfillment of this position is required to provide operational support to safeguard the firm’s investment in technology and provide operational stability to the business. This position is required to provide the overall direction and control of the business support group technology staff.
