Application Developer
Reports to: VP - Sr Business Analyst
Work Location: Stamford, CT
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

      Support the existing applications and developing new ones for the oil department of a commodities trading firm. Responsibilities include interfacing w/ user base, application development, testing, global deployment and support.

    Skills / Competencies:

      Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work both independently and with a team. Requires basic organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong full life cycle development experience is desired. Proficiency in .NET C#, Java, SQL, XML SOAP and OOD. Knowledge of financial instruments required.

    Degrees / Experience:

      B.A. or equivalent degree
      Minimum 2-3 years solid experience developing in .NET C# and Java.
      Minimum 3-6 years experience in relational database design and implementation. MS SQLServer and Oracle knowledge preferred.

      Minimum 2-3 years experience in financial industry, preferably in a commodities trading firm

Senior Software Engineer:

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing
and implementing programs, as required, to support the technical
capabilities. To be successful in this role one must be able to work
effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role requires
excellent communication skills, both with team members and business
contacts and to folks at different levels. In addition, the successful
Senior Engineer must be able to work with minimal or no supervision on
multiple concurrent projects and to coordinate the work of others in
this environment.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
* Develop new or maintain existing programs based on
specifications
* Develop, implement and maintain unit tests of programs
* Participate in requirements gathering and definition
* Leading the design of new or changing programs and producing
technical
specifications
* Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the
assigned
application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
* Sharing knowledge by effectively documenting work
* Maintain expert level of knowledge in area of expertise
* Develop and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the assigned
application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
* Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking
responsibility for seeing those issues thru resolution.
* Mentor less experienced Engineers
* Participate in project planning
* Participate in design and maintenance of enterprise architecture

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
* More than 6 years experience in relevant technologies
* Good knowledge of and experience with user interface design
patterns,
visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies
* Ability to work on multiple projects and be flexible to adapt to
any
given situation
* Good knowledge in Object Oriented analysis, design and
programming
* Possess basic project management skills to track all project
work
* Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to
all
levels of the organizationExceptional customer service attitude and
interpersonal skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience using code versioning system
* Experience working on large scale web application development
* Good working knowledge of:
o JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite
o Java, J2EE 5, EJB3, and JDBC
o SOA
o BPM
o Oracle and SQL
