Job Description:	Applicant should have 10+ years of experience architecting and designing large, mission-critical Java/J2EE transactional applications. Candidate should also demonstrate strong business analysis skills, and end-to-end RUP 4+1 software development life-cycle knowledge. Responsibilities: . Help drive the technical strategy and lead team(s) in meeting strategic objectives. . Fosters high performing technical teams. . Designs complex systems at the component level, makes strategic technology choices, and directly supervises the quality of designs and implementation inside and between components. . Collaborates effectively with peer architects and chief architect to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas and resolves technological disagreement with informed, rational debate. . Arbitrates disagreements among engineers and make decisions where needed without damaging relationships. . Coaches, mentors, and delegates to engineers to facilitate their development. Requirements: . Masters in Computer Science, or equivalent related experience. . Ten+ years of experience designing and building applications, with a minimum of four years in Standard Java & J2EE application systems architecture (WebSphere Application Server v5.1 & 6.1 knowledge a strong preference) . Strong experience with object-oriented software development methodologies and practices including GoF & J2EE design patterns & UML. . Significant experience (3+ years) with J2EE and related technologies including: o SPRING, Struts, WebWork (Servlets, JSP, HTML, JNDI) o Hibernate o JAAS, and JACC (JSR-115) o JMS & WebSphere MQ o JNDI . Strong experience with relational databases and SQL (DB2 for z/OS a plus) . Exposure to SOA concepts and technologies (WebSphere Process Server and SCA components a plus) . Experience with the following mainframe technologies: o CICS & CTG (SNA a plus) o COBOL & Enterprise COBOL o TSO o JCL . Knowledge of CMMI processes a plus . Insurance/Mortgage/Health-oriented application experience is a plus . Experience estimating capital, schedule and human resource costs of proposed objectives. . Compares, contrasts, and prioritizes among alternative approaches to meet those objectives while assessing risk both quantitatively and qualitatively. . Demonstrates seasoned judgment to suggest approaches that optimize among stakeholder needs, business constraints, and technological realities. . Influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management. . Comfortably moves between highly varying levels of abstraction from business strategy to product strategy to high level technical design to detailed technical design to implementation. . Clearly documents and communicates objectives, requirements, and designs at these different levels of abstraction to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Enterprise Architect is responsible for creating a future vision architecture which supports objectives of cost and risk reduction along with positioning the bank to deliver new products and services to the market faster.
This position takes a disciplined and comprehensive approach to describing the current state and future vision enterprise architecture for a multi-billion dollar diversified financial services company. In order to create this vision, the EA must reconcile information from complex set of inputs including:
• Knowledge of banking processes
• Enterprise and business unit strategies
• Banking industry trends
• Competitor’s strategies
• Technology trends
• Organizational structures and geographic locations
• Risk and Compliance directives/legislation
• Existing systems and gaps
• Existing technologies and gaps
• Existing information systems and gaps
• Existing skills and gaps
• Existing processes/methodologies surrounding architecture, development, requirements, testing, deployment and support
Deliverables include current state and future vision architectures, an enterprise Multi-Year Plan (MYP) for implementing the future vision, a pipeline of opportunities for our enterprise assets, asset roadmaps, reference architectures, and a methodology for calculating total cost of ownership (TCO) for our software assets.
This particular EA position will focus architect/developer quality and productivity through the creation, leverage and automation of reference architects as well as the design and proofs-of-concept for key enterprise capabilities.
